E-Learning via Downe’s Blog

After reviewing a few of Downe’s log I chose Stephen Downe’s blog, Freedom in E-Learning (http://www.downes.ca) on March 31, 2003.

In this article Downe’s discusses the proposed purpose of e-learning and then his own ideas including that e-learning allows us a freedom unlike any other.

I believe e-learning can allow us to not only learn large amounts of information from one small space but opens us to the possibilities of learning abilities before us. For example, I think that e-learning is an excellent tool for many learners because it allows someone to not only learn at their own pace but to facilitate back what they have learned in a way that is most suitable for their learning style.

Many people today think that e-learning for anyone under college age might be a mistake because they aren’t monitored so to speak. I think it could actually enhance learning for certain students. We all have students who are slow readers, fast readers, slow learner, fast learners, and some who don’t do well in their peer environments while in school but do well on work outside of school.

I’m certainly not saying that we shouldn’t have schools or teachers but I think e-learning can definitely enhance learning for everyone and hopefully increase their learning skills and ability to do well outside of school.
