Tapped In

Filed under: Uncategorized — mrsaprince @ 11:51 pm

Tapped-In seems to be a very informative site with a lot of options to help you when you’re just starting. I haven’t attended a Tips and Tricks tour yet because I signed up late. I am going to attend the one on Sunday at 4pm. I can’t wait to see the tutorial and figure out how it works so I won’t feel too lost when we use it! I think this space would be great for allowing online students to meet up and discuss issues in their classes but might be hard if you had to follow a set schedule because many of us take online courses to have a more flexible schedule to go along with our daily lives.

UPDATE:

I took the Tricks and Tips tour today as planned. It was very interesting and informative. I learned how to review profiles, move from chat to chat as well as have private chats. I also learned more about the calendar of events and saw a few office pages with links on how to join groups. Overall I think the tour was pretty effective in showing you a few of the ropes around tapped-in but my main issue was that i kept getting sent back to the original chat room where we started. Luckily, I learned quick that if you want to go back to a room where a person is you just have to type…./join DianneA…that was the person that directed our tour. It was certainly an interesting experience! Goodluck with your tours!

Distance Education

Filed under: Uncategorized — mrsaprince @ 11:48 pm

I think distance education can mean many things but more importantly it implies learning outside of a general classroom. I think online courses are an excellent source for anyone who doesn’t live close to their college like myself or doesn’t have the time and resources to attend classes at set days and times. I think it gives everyone an opportunity learn versus giving just specific individuals a way to get a better education. This is especially true for graduate students who don’t have the open availability they once had as undergraduates just starting and helps those who haven’t been to school in awhile to readjust to their new setting.

Introduction

Hello all my name is April Prince and I live in Lexington, KY. I am currently a MAT Student who has been taking graduate classes part-time. I signed up a little late for this class as a spot opened up on Friday. I can’t wait to see how this class progresses since I flew through a week’s worth of work in one which was by no means easy!! But I have been working fast to get caught up and am almost there whew! I hope to gain from this course a better understanding of distance learning and how I might benefit from it as I finish my Master’s and hopefully begin teaching someday. Good Luck this semester!
